Veneers Q & A

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are very thin shells of porcelain or resin that are placed on the front of your teeth. Veneers are a popular cosmetic procedure that has the power to transform your smile.

Most veneers last an average of 10 years or longer, making them a long-term solution to repair the look of damaged or irregular teeth.

Dr. Raymer works with patients who want veneers, helping them choose the right color, shape, and size of their veneers. All veneers are custom-made to meet each patient’s needs and aesthetic goals.

What can dental veneers treat?

Veneers are a natural-looking, minimally invasive treatment option for a number of smile flaws. Common cosmetic concerns that Dr. Raymer uses veneers to correct include:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gummy teeth
  • Short teeth
  • Gapped teeth
  • Crooked or misaligned teeth
  • Irregularly-shaped teeth
  • Discolored teeth

Veneers can make crooked teeth appear straighter, close gaps, and cover chips. Treatment with dental veneers is customizable, which means you can work with Dr. Raymer to find the look that’s right for you.

What is the application procedure like?

Veneer application is a simple, minimally invasive procedure that typically takes three office visits. During your first appointment, you talk with Dr. Raymer about your concerns and aesthetic goals. He examines your teeth and helps you decide if veneers are a good choice for you.

In the following appointments, Dr. Raymer prepares your teeth for veneer application and takes impressions of your teeth for the veneers to be created. The impressions are sent to a lab and your veneers are developed just for you.

To prepare your teeth for the veneers, Dr. Raymer removes a small amount of tooth enamel, then cleans and polishes your teeth. When he places the veneers, he trims each one for the perfect fit. He bonds the veneers to your teeth with a special cement.

When you get veneers, there’s no downtime and you leave the office with a beautiful smile. Dr. Raymer may request you come back for a follow-up appointment, but after you get your veneers, you will simply care for them as you do your natural teeth.

You don’t have to live with an imperfect smile. From chips to discoloration, misalignment, and more, let veneers give you a picture-perfect smile. Call Dr. Raymer’s office or request a consultation online today to get started.
